Abstract

Large-scale global conflicts, including the possibility of a world war, could significantly disrupt economic systems, supply chains, information networks, and social stability across the world. Even communities located far from direct conflict zones may experience serious impacts on everyday life through shortages of essential goods, financial instability, and psychological stress. This article examines how a hypothetical global war could influence daily life at the family and community levels. It explores the vulnerability of communities through four essential survival systems: food and resources, health and wellbeing, economic livelihood, and social governance. The article also discusses how fear, media information, and emotional responses influence decision-making during periods of crisis. In addition, a framework for community-level risk assessment is presented to help communities identify weaknesses and prepare adaptive strategies. Finally, practical approaches for strengthening community resilience are proposed to help local populations improve their capacity to cope with extreme global disruptions. Understanding these factors may help communities become more prepared and adaptable in uncertain global situations.
